Why You NEED a Hotel the Night Before Your Cruise

As your travel advisors, we will always recommend that you fly into the general area of your cruise port 1-2 days before your cruise. There’s a myriad of reasons for this, but mainly it’s simply because airlines can be unreliable. Your flight can be cancelled because of weather, mechanical issues, staffing issues, you name it. By building in a buffer, it guarantees that if you don’t get out on your original flight, you should still make it to the port in time.

If you have a huge time change between where you live and the port you’re sailing out of, we may recommend coming in 2-3 days before, if budget allows. That way you can adjust to the time change and not miss out on any of the amazing vacation we’ve helped you plan!

The only exception to this rule is if you live within a few hours of the port! Everyone thinks of Florida when they think of cruising but there are a surprising number of ports scattered throughout the country. There’s three within the New York City area alone!
