Travel Tip Tuesday: What To Do When It Rains

Top 5 Rainy Day Travel Hacks

1. Pack extra shoes – Keep your footwear in mind. If you like to wear sneakers to the parks, make sure you throw some flip flops in your park bag for the rain. We’ve also seen people buy waterproof shoe covers to keep your feet dry. If you prefer to wear sandals, make sure they’re waterproof so you don’t get chafing or blisters.

2. Cover your stroller in the afternoons – If you are parking your stroller during a Florida afternoon, go ahead and take the extra minute to put your waterproof stroller cover on. If it happens to rain while your family is watching a show or riding a ride, you can come back to a dry stroller!

3. Pack an umbrella and/or a poncho – there seem to be two types of people: those that prefer ponchos and those who prefer umbrellas. Ponchos provide better rain cover but they also can feel a bit like you’re wrapping yourself in plastic wrap in the hot Florida whether. Umbrellas allow the breeze (and some of the rain) in but they also provide great cover from the sun! Pro tip: Save yourself some money and pick up your ponchos at the dollar store before your trip!

4. Download an accurate weather app – It is almost inevitable that it will rain at least a little bit each day. If you want to plan when to catch a show or ride to avoid the rain, download a detailed app like Dark Sky Weather or Accuweather to tell you exactly when the rain will start and how long it’s expected to rain.

5. Enjoy the shorter lines! – If getting a little wet doesn’t concern you, why not stay in the parks and enjoy the lower wait times? Most people will leave when the rain starts so if you have rain gear, head to an indoor ride! Outdoor rides will stop during the rain, but there are still plenty of indoor options to enjoy!
