6 Steps to Minimize Holiday Travel Stress

Travelling during the holidays - whether it is to visit family or to getaway – can cause major stress. Maybe it’s the general stress of the holidays, the fact that airports are at their busiest, or just that you have a lot going on at the time. We’ve rounded up our top 6 tips for avoiding that holiday travel heartburn:

  • Book early – booking your travel as far in advance as possible gives you the most options for where to stay and when you travel. You don’t want to wait until there’s no good lodging available or be forced to take a red-eye with the kids in tow.

  • Get organized – Make sure you don’t forget any crucial items by making packing lists for everything you need to bring.

    • TIP: We use the Reminders app on our iPhones and create separate lists for each family member and check things off as it is packed. This is also nice because you can reuse the list for your next vacation

  • Leave early – It happens. You can plan for everything to go smoothly but inevitably something will throw a wrench in your plans. Airport security may take longer than usual, your car may get a flat tire half-way through your roadtrip, someone may get sick. Plan for delays and best case scenario? You get there early.

  • Communicate – Make sure you and your travelling party are on the same page about travel expectations, like when you plan to eat and what the next few events are coming up. This will help everyone be ready and know what to expect.

  • Pack for emergencies – keep an extra change of clothes, snacks, and medicine in an easy to grab place. That way, if anything goes wrong, you’re ready for it!

  • Book with a travel agent – If the trip planning part stresses you out, let us help! We’re experts in booking travel and taking the stress of a vacation off your plate. Book a consultation if you’re ready to book that holiday trip!
