5 Surprising Things You Can Bring in Your Carry-On

Do you ever start packing for a trip and think, “Can I bring this on the plane with me or do I need to check it?” We’re guilty of it too but we stay up to date on the latest TSA rules and here are some surprising things you may not know about what you can bring on the plane with you:

  • Electric and disposable razors – If you’re only packing a carry-on and nervous about bringing your razor, don’t be! You can absolutely bring that with you. You can’t bring straight razors with you so those still have to be checked.

  • Deodorant – Stick deodorant is allowed at any size. If it has a liquid component, like a spray, gel, or roll-on, they will have to be less than 3.4 ounces

  • Batteries – the rules around batteries can be kind of tricky. For the most part, you want to pack any type of battery in your carry-on and not in your checked luggage. If you are concerned about the types of batteries you’re bringing you, refer to the TSA website for up-to-date guidelines.

  • Alcohol! – Yep! If you have the mini-bottles of alcohol and they fit in a quart-sized bag, you are free to bring them on the plane with you. You cannot consume them on the plane (that’s illegal) but carry away!

  • Lightsabers and droids – If you’re headed home from Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a lightsaber (or a droid that you built) in tow, you can bring it on the plane with you. In fact, you will likely see a bunch of families at the Orlando airport toting their souvenirs from a galaxy far, far away. And with lightsabers, you don’t have much of a choice but to bring them on the plane with you because the blades are so long that they don’t fit in a standard sized suitcase.

If you have questions about whether or not you can bring something on the plane with you when you’re packing for your next trip, please refer to the TSA website for the most up-to-date guidance.
